Your assignment is to focus on an aspect of management that interests you and one in which you can build on your existing knowledge, understanding and application of management/leadership skills. This assignment was designed with a great deal of latitude to allow you to choose a topic that interests you and will enrich your learning. You will write a 3-5 page paper that draws from the topics in Foundations of Management, i.e., theories of management/leadership, situational leadership, transformational leadership, global leadership, management and power issues, diversity and inclusion, human resource management, etc.
Criteria for written work:
- Organize your paper. What is the main point?
- Link your ideas to the class concepts. Integrate with other readings, research, etc.
- Model independent thinking~~graduate level thinking.
- Present your ideas clearly, concisely and logically
Suggestions:
Apply a management theory to a current situation and analyze and make recommendations based on the theory.
- Write a case study that outlines a dilemma and how it was or could be resolved through application of the theories studied.
- Choose a film that represents a management/leadership dilemma. Provide examples/applications of theory. What lessons, insights can you draw from the film using theories learned in class?
