Hello Cambridge College Students,

 

This is the final week of classes for most of you, and we hope that you are finishing strong! If you need assistance with end of semester assignments or papers, it is not too late to reach out to a tutor. Dr. Michael Siegell, Professor and Program Chair in the School of Undergraduate Studies is inviting the College community to a fascinating presentation on “The Sacred Ritual Arts of Bali”, which describes ritual art practice in Balinese culture. Developing your skill at researching companies and industries can pay off in numerous ways. It can help you with your coursework, identify prospective employers, prepare for interviews, and research personal investments. CC Librarian Jeff Cronin will begin with a brief presentation about the different types of companies, e.g., publicly held and privately held. He will then discuss a variety of resources on the web and in databases at the Cambridge College Online Library that provide data and analysis for companies and industries. There will also be an opportunity for questions.

Make a great first impression! A bit of preparation will help you to maximize your time, feel confident, and make a good impression with employers. Attendees will be able to develop and practice their 30-second elevator pitch and learn how to develop and maintain a professional network.

Community Time' is a monthly event and an opportunity for students, faculty, and staff to spend an hour together to share their experiences and build a stronger CC community. Each 'Community Time' event will have a topic for discussion and provide an opportunity to share your story, as well as connect with peers and colleagues in a safe space. MTEL Workshop - English as a Second Language

Cambridge College will be offering an MTEL workshop for those who need to take the English as a Second Language test. Education instructor Maria Williams will be offering the following three-session workshop on Saturday mornings in May 2023:

 

Saturdays, 5/6, 5/13 & 5/20, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. (EST) via Zoom

  • Session 1: Basic linguistic and sociolinguistic concepts related to instruction, processes and stages of language acquisition, & ESL instructional approaches and best practices 
  • Session 2: Oral language instruction and assessment & reading comprehension and writing instruction and assessment
  • Session 3: Prepare an organized, developed analysis related to one or more of the following: foundations of second-language instruction; second-language and content learning.

CC MTEL support workshops are available to all current Cambridge College students for $75.

English Conversation Group 

Our English Conversation Group is designed to help English language learners practice conversational skills in a safe and structured environment. English Conversation Groups meet virtually via Zoom every Monday and Thursday (except federal holidays). There is no charge to attend, but registration is required.
