9/4/23 Student Update

Hello Cambridge College Students,

 

Welcome to the start of the fall 2023-2024 term and the first week of classes!

 

If you are new to the College, we are thrilled to have you join our vibrant community of lifelong learners who are committed to expanding their horizons and pursuing their educational goals. Whether you're here to acquire new skills, advance your career, or simply indulge your passion for knowledge, this semester promises to be a journey of growth and discovery. Our dedicated faculty and staff are here to support you every step of the way, and we encourage you to embrace the opportunities for personal and intellectual development that lie ahead. Together, we will embark on a transformative educational experience that will empower you to reach your full potential. Here's to a semester filled with learning, inspiration, and success!

 

If you have not yet registered or would like to register for additional classes, you can still do so. Our advisors and coaches stand ready to help, should you need any assistance!

 

Please note the following deadlines for adding and dropping classes:

  • Last day to add/drop Cambridge College Global (CCG) Fall 1 and 1A classes: Thursday, September 7.
  • Last day to add/drop Cambridge College Full Semester classes: Tuesday, September 12.

 

Health Insurance Waivers

VERY IMPORTANT: If you have health insurance and are taking classes in Massachusetts, you will need to complete the health insurance waiver, so you are not charged for health insurance that you do not need. You must do this by September 30, 2023For more information, visit this page>>.

 

Laptop Loan Program

Laptop computers are essential for student success. If you do not have a dedicated computer, we encourage you to obtain a loaner laptop. For more information or to request a laptop, contact Leah Barcan at leah.barcan@cambridgecollege.edu.

 

Grammarly

All registered CC students should have received an email with a link to set up their Grammarly Premium account. If you did not receive the invitation, please contact Leah Barcan at leah.barcan@cambridgecollege.edu. Canvas Learning Management System

For those of you who are new to CC, Canvas is your learning management system. Canvas will be your online classroom, where you will find your syllabus, course information, lectures, reading assignments, etc. Canvas is also where you will communicate with your instructor and classmates. Canvas Training Course

If you need Canvas training, you can also take the self-guided Canvas training course. All students are automatically enrolled in the CST100: Canvas Student Training course. When you log into MyCC, go to the gray area left menu bar (Quick Links) where you will find a link to “Canvas.”  Click on that link for Canvas access. If you haven’t already accepted it, the top of the screen may display a message informing you of your enrollment in the CST100 Canvas Student Training. Click on “Accept” and you are ready to begin the course starting at the “Home” page. This Canvas course is self-guided, not timed, and contains the same material covered in the live monthly scheduled Zoom sessions.

Introduction to the Cambridge College Online Library

Cambridge College Librarian Jeff Cronin will provide an overview of the Cambridge College Online Library and how it can help you. We will briefly introduce our library resources and services, including reference 24/7 and APA guides for citing sources. There will also be an opportunity for questions. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. Cambridge College has many free resources to support students! Come learn about TutorMe, CC Tutors, Read & Write Gold, and Grammarly. Learning Specialist Leah Barcan will teach you how to get the most out of these valuable tools.

 

Community Time

Thursday, September 7, 7:00-8:00 p.m. (ET) via Zoom. Click here to register >>

Community Time' is a monthly event and an opportunity for students, faculty, and staff to spend an hour together to share their experiences and build a stronger CC community. Each 'Community Time' event will have a topic for discussion and provide an opportunity to share your story, as well as connect with peers and colleagues in a safe space. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about how to join the meeting. English Conversation Group 

Our English Conversation Group is designed to help English language learners practice conversational skills in a safe and structured environment. English Conversation Groups meet virtually via Zoom every Monday and Thursday (except federal holidays). There is no charge to attend, but registration is required.
