Subject: Commencement Update
**CAMPUS UPDATE FROM PRESIDENT JACKSON**
Dear Cambridge College students:
We are so pleased that our students and faculty have made such an incredible effort to transition so smoothly to the many modalities of remote learning. We remain committed to assuring that this semester is not lost for any of our students.
I am writing to provide you with a number of updates including current plans for Commencement.
COMMENCEMENT
For all of us every year, our Boston commencement, normally held in June, is an incredibly exciting and inspirational celebration of the journey of our students over many years to complete their academic pursuits and receive their degrees.
Most years we have between 5,000-6,000 people in attendance, and the commencement is held at an offsite location in order to accommodate the many families and friends who are a part of this momentous occasion. This year, in light of the COVID-19 restrictions, it is unlikely that we will be allowed to host our commencement with these many attendee as early as our current date of June 14, 2020.
Given the current situation, we have decided to make the difficult decision to postpone our June commencement to a later date. We are currently exploring locations and dates for a commencement ceremony in the early fall. We want this celebration to be as beautiful, joyous and inclusive of our many students, family and friends, as they’ve been all of our past commencements over the years. As of today, we don’t have a confirmed venue or date, but we want to assure you that we are doing everything possible to secure both and we will inform you as soon as possible with the new date and location. We are determined that our graduates experience the culmination of this journey in our traditional Cambridge College celebration.
Please continue to stay in touch with your faculty, advisors, and our dean of student affairs, with any individual questions or concerns that you may have. We also remind you that information is available and constantly updated on MyCC and the CC website, and call your attention to these very useful tools as noted below:
STUDENT RESOURCES AND REMOTE LEARNING:
Visit MyCC at https://mycc.cambridgecollege.edu/ICS/Tutorials/MyCC_Tutorials_-_Students.jnz to explore the wonderful tools and resources all intended to help you manage through this period more easily.
We continue to stay abreast of updates from local, state and federal government, and
will keep you informed if there is any change to our current advisory to continue remote learning and work from home.
We hope you are also continuing to keep yourself and your family safe and know that as a Cambridge College community we are here to support one another.
Warm regards,
Deborah
