4/24/2200 Academic Affairs Weekly Student Update

High priority

Dear Cambridge College Students:

We hope you and your families are doing well. For those of you who are working as essential workers or who are staying home, we appreciate your effort. We also hope that you are able to stick with your coursework and finish out the spring term.  If you have any trouble, please reach out to your instructor or your advisor/success coach. You can schedule with most of them through Starfish (click here to learn how)

Spring term credit/no credit options

For the spring term, we are happy to announce that all students in all schools will have the option to either receive a letter grade or opt for a credit/no credit grade. For undergraduate students, if you are interested in completing your spring courses credit/no credit, reach out to your professor. For graduate students, especially those in licensure programs, reach out to your advisor to discuss a credit/no credit option for the spring. Read the official grading guidelines here.

Scholarship opportunities!

As you may know, Cambridge College has several scholarship opportunities for students.  Talk with the Financial Aid Office about federal scholarships that may be available, or complete the simple scholarship application to apply for internal scholarships such as the Henry Hampton Scholarships for students who work in civil rights/social justice areas. The deadline to apply for summer scholarships is coming up next Friday on May 1st. Learn more by visiting the scholarship page. If you have not yet applied during this school year, we encourage you do to so as these scholarships can help to clear account holds and offset the cost of summer classes.

Health & Wellness

As we learn about the extension of stay-at-home orders, we want to remind you to prioritize your own health and wellness.  We have collected several links and resources on our resources page. In addition, next week, on Wednesday, April 29th from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm, Dr. Barbara Reid and Professor Cherie Maguire from the Wellness and Health Promotion program will be offering a free online workshop on how to “Reduce Stress, Increase Mental Health, & Boost the Immune System.” Click here for more information. Use this link to join at the time: https://cambridgecollege.zoom.us/j/97565138167

Laptop, internet, and technology support

As was announced last week, Cambridge College has initiated a student laptop loan program, and we are working on procuring more laptops. If a laptop would help you complete this term or the summer term, contact Regina Robinson at regina.robinson@cambridgecollege.edu and request to be added to the list. If you need support with an internet connection or other technology, “raise your hand” in Starfish (click here to learn how).  There is a limited number of laptops to loan.

Summer Term

As was also announced last week, the College has officially made the decision to move all classes to a remote format for the summer.  We are currently providing extra training and support to all summer faculty to ensure that you will have an optimal learning experience. We encourage you to meet with an advisor/success coach and then register for summer classes (click here to learn how).
