Description
This course presents the fundamentals of management information systems and provides an overview of the issues managers face in the selection, use, and management of information technologies/information systems (IT/IS). The use of IT/IS and e-commerce as key enablers of competitive global business and social change will be emphasized. Topics covered will include the basic concepts of computer hardware, software, telecommunications, networks, and database systems. The course also examines IT/IS ethical standards, security, enterprise systems, DSS, knowledge management systems, expert systems, and AI. Prerequisite: CMP 130 Introduction to Computer Applications.
