What is Big Data? (5:46) Big data is a collection of large, complex data sets, including structured and unstructured data, which cannot be analyzed using traditional database methods and tools. Big data came into fruition primary due to the last 50 years of technology evolution. Revolutionary technological advances in software, hardware, storage, networking, and computing models have transformed the data landscape, making new opportunities for data collection possible (Baltzan, 2017).
