6/27/2022 Academic Affairs Weekly Student Update     

     

Hello Cambridge College Students:

 

We hope your classes are going well!

 

As announced last week, registration for the 2022-23 Fall term is opening this week on Friday, July 1st. We encourage you to reach out to your advisor or success coach to discuss your selection of courses. Courses will continue to be offered in a mix of modalities, with some courses fully online, others Connected/Zoom, and some in person.

 

This week we are excited to share the following announcements:

 

Laptop Loan Programs

Cambridge College continues to offer its laptop loan program. If you do not have a computer, we encourage you to obtain a loaner laptop. For more information or to request a laptop, contact Tracy McLaughlin at tracy.mclaughlin@cambridgecollege.edu.

 

The Boston Public Library (BPL) is offering a Long-Term Device Lending Program for Boston residents that includes Wi-Fi routers. This program provides free access to Chromebook laptops and home Internet via home Wi-Fi routers and is open to any adult resident of the City of Boston. You can sign up for an electronic library card or "eCard” instantly at BPL.org/ecard. The BPL also provides free computer and technology classes to help people use computers and the Internet.

 

Canvas Training

Canvas is your online classroom where you will find your syllabus, course information, lectures, reading assignments, etc. Canvas is also where you can communicate with your instructor and classmates. APA Bootcamp

Tuesday, June 28th, 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. (EST) via Zoom. Click here to register >>

Cambridge College Librarian Jeff Cronin covers the American Psychological Association (APA) 7th edition citation style. We will begin by covering APA basics, including how to format the most used sources for papers and the basics of in-text citations. We will conclude by covering resources you can use to help with APA. There will also be an opportunity for questions. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. Job Search Effectiveness

Wednesday, June 29th, 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. (EST) via Zoom. Click here to register >>

This workshop will introduce various job search resources and strategies that will help you be effective in a competitive job market. You will learn about traditional and non-traditional job searches and so much more! We can help you kick start your job search, talk to you about networking, or address any other job search-related questions you might have. Even if you are not looking for a job right now, all students are encouraged to attend to learn how to prepare for the future. This is a workshop you will not want to miss! English Conversation Group 

Our English Conversation Group is designed to help English language learners practice conversational skills in a safe and structured environment. English Conversation Groups meet virtually via Zoom every Monday and Thursday (except on federal holidays). There is no charge to attend, but registration is required.
