4/4/2022 Academic Affairs Weekly Student Update     

     

Hello Cambridge College Students:

 

Did you know that Cambridge College is in the process of adopting a new learning management system, called Canvas? It was chosen because it is easy to use, mobile-friendly, and collaborative. While you will still use MyCC to register for courses, Canvas will be your online classroom, where you will find your syllabus, course information, lectures, reading assignments, etc. Canvas is also where you will communicate with your instructor and classmates.

 

Beginning in the summer 2022 term, all courses will be using Canvas as the LMS. We encourage all students to register for one of the Canvas training sessions below:

This week, we are offering the following workshops:

 

Interviewing Insights

​Wednesday, April 6th, 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. (ET)  Click here to register

Build knowledge about how to master the interviewing process. Find out ways to prepare for job interviews effectively, develop appropriate responses to challenging questions, and discover how to leave a great first impression. Get ideas about how to handle virtual, telephone, and panel interviews. Gain the confidence you need to ace your next interview! This program will be presented twice during the semester, allowing participants to choose between a lunchtime or evening option.

 

Community Time-April 

Wednesday, April 6th from 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. (ET) via Zoom. 'Community Time' is a monthly event and an opportunity for students, faculty, and staff to spend an hour together to share their experiences and build a stronger CC community. Each 'Community Time' event will have a topic for discussion. Everyone will have a chance to share their story, as well as connect with peers and colleagues in a safe space. Please register in advance by following this link. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about how to join the meeting. 

 

Library Webinar: Introduction to the Cambridge College Online Library

Wednesday, April 6th, from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. (ET)

Jeff Cronin, Cambridge College Librarian, will be offering a webinar on the new Cambridge College Online Library and how it can help you. During this webinar, he will briefly introduce our library resources and services, including reference 24/7 and APA guides for citing sources. English Conversation Group 

Our English Conversation Group is designed to help English language learners practice conversational skills in a safe and structured environment. English Conversation Groups meet virtually via Zoom every Monday and Thursday (except federal holidays). There is no charge to attend, but registration is required.

Finally, don’t forget that the Academic Success Center offers free live tutoring (on Zoom) to any student who needs help with coursework, assignments, research papers, and the like.
