6/5/23 Student Update

Hello Cambridge College Students,

Welcome to the Summer term for in-seat, remote, and hybrid CC classes! For most of you, classes are starting this week. If you have not yet done so, be sure to log into your courses in Canvas to review your course syllabi and to locate any course texts. If your class is running via Zoom, be sure that you have the Zoom link for your course. If you cannot find any of these items, don’t hesitate to reach out to your instructor or advisor for help.

To celebrate the beginning of the summer term, please join Associate Dean of Students Vera Dimoplon for this week’s Community Time on Thursday, June 8, 4:30-5:30 p.m. (ET) via Zoom, Click here to register >>. Community Time is an opportunity for students, faculty, and staff to spend an hour together, get to know each other, and build a stronger CC community. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about how to join the meeting. Please contact Vera Dimoplon at vera.dimoplon@cambridgecollege.edu for more information about this event.

Canvas

For those of you who are new this semester, here is a brief overview of Canvas, the College’s learning management system: Canvas was adopted by the College because it is easy to use, mobile friendly, and collaborative. Canvas will be your online classroom, where you will find your syllabus, course information, lectures, reading assignments, etc. Canvas is also where you will communicate with your instructor and classmates. If you’d like to learn more about Canvas, you can access a video providing an overview here >>.

Laptop Loan Program

Laptop computers are essential for student success. If you do not have a dedicated computer, we encourage you to obtain a loaner laptop. For more information or to request a laptop, contact Tracy McLaughlin, Associate Provost, at tracy.mclaughlin@cambridgecollege.edu.

Grammarly

We are continuing to make Grammarly Premium available free of charge to all students! All CC students who have registered for summer classes should have received an email with a link to set up their Grammarly Premium account. If you did not receive the invitation, please reach out to leah.barcan@cambridgecollege.edu. You can read our Grammarly announcement and directions, here>> and access Grammarly support videos here>>.

New SEVP Rules for International Students for Fall 23-24

International students enrolled in the Summer 2023 semester are allowed to complete the summer semester under the flexible COVID-19 guidelines. However, beginning September 1, 2023, all F1 VISA students, regardless of when they entered the United States, will need to enroll in in-seat classes, with only one online (or remote) class permitted per semester. Before registering for fall classes, please be sure to meet with your academic advisor to ensure that you are enrolling in the required number of in-seat classes. Should you have any questions about this, please reach out to Vera Dimoplon at vera.dimoplon@cambridgecollege.edu.

If you have time, please come join us for one of our workshops this week!
