4/11/22 Student Update

4/11/2022 Academic Affairs Weekly Student Update

Hello Cambridge College Students:

We are entering the final few weeks of the regular term, and I hope that your classes are going well. If you need assistance starting or completing a final writing project such as a term paper, an Independent Learning Project, or a Capstone paper, here are key areas in which our Writing Tutors can help:

  1. Brainstorming: selecting a topic for your paper and helping you frame research questions.
  2. Developing and organizing ideas: limiting or expanding a topic, outlining/planning your paper.
  3. Critical thinking: interpreting your assignment or a specific reading, forming an argument or thesis, developing ideas or supporting your point of view.
  4. Research: forming a research strategy, using the Cambridge College Online Library, finding appropriate sources, using scholarly journals.
  5. Revision: reorganizing your paper, developing transitions, revising an earlier draft, using conventional grammar.
  6. Documentation: using American Psychological Association (APA) style, in-text citations and references. Understanding the effective use of quotations and paraphrasing. Clarifying what plagiarism is and how to avoid it.
  7. Facing the "impossible": managing time and materials, breaking down overwhelming assignments into manageable tasks, understanding what your assignment means.

Refresh Your Resume

It doesn't matter how qualified you are for a job if no recruiter sees your credentials. Organizations often rely on artificial intelligence (AI) gatekeepers to pre-screen applications. But systems aren't perfect and can reject qualified candidates. Attend this webinar and learn how to get your resume past a company's applicant tracking system (ATS) and on to human eyes. In addition, you will discover how to write a results-oriented resume and cover letter that reflect your relevant experience, abilities, and accomplishments. Transform your resume into a powerful tool that will get you more interviews.
