5/31/22 Student Update

5/31/2022 Academic Affairs Weekly Student Update

Hello Cambridge College Students:

We hope you are all doing well. As you likely know, most regular summer classes begin next week on June 6th. In anticipation of the start of classes, we encourage you to log into your course portals, check to see if there are required textbooks, and download the syllabus to review prior to class. The summer term is short, so being prepared will help to set you up for success.

Here are some other items to keep in mind:

Grammarly

Cambridge College is committed to student success, so we are continuing to make Grammarly Premium available to all students! All registered CC students should have received an email with a link to set up your Grammarly Premium account 30 days before the start of your classes. If you did not receive the invitation, email tracy.mclaughlin@cambridgecollege.edu.

Cambridge College Librarian Jeff Cronin covers the American Psychological Association (APA) 7th edition citation style. We will begin by covering APA basics including how to format the most used sources for papers and the basics of in-text citations. We will conclude by covering resources you can use to help with APA. There will also be an opportunity for questions. If you need any additional information, please contact Jeff Cronin at Jeffrey.Cronin@cambridgecollege.edu. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

Canvas Training

Thursday, June 2, 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. (EST) via Zoom. Click here to register>>

Beginning in the summer 2022 term, all courses will be using Canvas as the Learning Management System. Each training session will show students the Canvas course settings, notifications, inbox communications, conducting coursework such as uploading assignments, taking a quiz, participating in discussion forums, and utilizing Canvas help resources. We encourage all students to register for Canvas training.

Community Time

Wednesday, June 8, 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. (EST) via Zoom. Click here to register >>

'Community Time' is a monthly event and an opportunity for students, faculty, and staff to spend an hour together to share their experiences and build a stronger CC community. Each 'Community Time' event will have a topic for discussion and provide an opportunity to share your story, as well as connect with peers and colleagues in a safe space. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about how to join the meeting. If you have questions about the event or need accommodations to participate in this event, please contact Vera Dimoplon at vera.dimoplon@cambridgecollege.edu.

If you are on break, enjoy this last week. Don’t hesitate to reach out to any of our offices if you need support or have questions. We look forward to seeing you in summer classes!
